Announcements Week of March 26 - 30

CMES's Got Talent Sign up Sheet went up on Monday.  WOW - what a response!  We're looking forward to seeing some awesome talent.  Notes will go home next week letting kid's know when their audition time and date will be.    FYI:  Each talent act can be NO longer than 3 minutes.  So, when your children are practicing - time them to make sure they are under the 3 minute time limit.  Thanks!
LAST DAY TO SIGN UP FOR THE TALENT SHOW IS MONDAY, APRIL 2ND.

Easter Treat forms were due back on Thursday, March 29th.
Freshalicious Forms were due back on Monday, March 28th

A REMINDER TO STUDENTS:  you need to wear your indoor running shoes in the gym.  PLEASE do not wear your outdoor shoes in the gym as this creates a very dirty floor.  We would like to maitain a clean gym floor for us to use.
ALSO:  All boys using the change room - you need to keep it clean.  Our lunchtime Basketball group left a bit of a mess - please remember to keep it clean.

STUDENTS ARRIVING LATE:  this is a reminder to check in at the office and pick up a late slip.  Too many unnecessary phone calls are being made to parents.

SPORTS NOTES:
Girls Basketball tryouts happened on Wednesday.
Intermediate Boys Basketball tryouts happened on Tuesday.
Sideline Basketball practiced and are gearing up for their game on Monday at Island Lake.  Permission forms needed to be handed in..
Hockey Team had a practice and then a tournament on Friday.

CLUB NOTES:
Primary Games Club was cancelled this week.
Baking Club began their job of making the Easter Treats for next week.
Silver Birch Club met on Tuesday and then had a book exchange day on Thursday.  They were reminded that their books need to be conferenced before the end of April.

Special Concert

RYAN LAIRD came today for a special concert for our CMES school community.
"With his single I’m Your Man breaking the top 10 in Canadian country charts in 2011, and with an album coming this year, Laird is back in the Centre Wellington-Guelph area for some rest and relaxation, and to share his insights about making it in music with local school kids."

Mr.Laird performed several songs with his guitar for the students as well as answered some questions. His song 'Hey Ashley' is a great song that ties in well with the antibullying campaign. Click on the Youtube link to hear it for yourself:

Important Info that Went Home Today

Today, Friday March 23rd, your children took home 2 flyers.

Flyer #1 - Order form for our final Baking Club Treats.  They are due back next Thursday, March 29.

Flyer #2 - Springtime In The Meadows information.  We had so much fun at "Christmas in the Meadows" that we've decided we need to do it again - but with a spring theme.  It's going to be all about celebrating the artistic side of our students.  We will be highlighting all the arts day creations in an Art Fair as well as holding our 1st ever CMES's Got Talent show.  Our talent show is open to students, families and staff.  A sign up sheet will be posted on the School Council bulletin board on Monday, March 26th if your child or your family wants to take part.  Auditions will take place the week after Easter.
SET ASIDE THURSDAY EVENING, MAY 3rd, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. 
We are going to have a GREAT evening!

Announcements for Week of March 19 - 23

REMINDER TO STUDENTS
1.  Who walk along and cross at Blind Line...you need to make use of the Crossing Guard!  Crossing on your own in random places is VERY dangerous.  Please make appropriate use of our Crossing Guards.

2.  That you should NOT have any food or drinks outside on the yard.  This message is particularly important for our intermediate students who sometimes go out for lunch.  PLEASE remember to NOT bring any food or dring items back to the school yard.  Thank you for your cooperation with this.

LAST CALL 
The last chance to bring back your Grad Picture Proofs will be on Wednesday, March 28th.

SPORTS UPDATE
...Sideline Basketball was busy practicing this week.
...Grade 7 & 8 Girls Basketball tryouts happened on Wednesday and will happen again next Wednesday, March 28.
...Intermediate Boys Basketball was practicing this week.  Also, there will be another try-out on Tuesday.

Weekly Announcements March 5 - 9

BOOGIE-A-THON NEWS - What a great day of boogying to the tunes of the 50's!  There was some great hand jiving, twisitng and moving to the rock'n roll beat!  Awesome poodle skirts and really cool looking dudes in the slicked back hair and glasses!  All together we raised around $5000.00 to go towards our arts days that will be held in April.  Great job to everyone who took part and helped to raise such an amazing amount! 

SPORTS NEWS:
Badminton, Hockey and side-line hockey were busy practicing this week.
Badminton Tournament:  Our Cobras represented our school well at our tournament.  Each team played 4 games.  We ended with a record of 16 wins, 1 tie, 7 losses.  WELL DONE to the team!

Club News:
Primary Games Club met with Miss K.
The Green Machine met and keeps busy keeping our school community eco-friendly!

Special Notes:
1.  The Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority is advising everyone, especially children, to stay away from all area water bodies including ice covered lakes and rivers.  Unstable ice with fast, cold flowing water and icy slippery banks - will result in dangerous conditions.

2.  Reminder from Edge Imaging to ALL Grade 8 and Senior Kindergarten students:  Your Graduation Proofs need to be returned by Wednesday, March 21st.  Even if you are not ordering pictures - the proofs must be returned.

Lost & Found Clothing

The lost and found clothing is on disply in the front foyer.  It will be there until Friday, March 9th.  After that it will be donated to a secondhand clothing store.  Please either have your children search for their lost items or come in yourself sometime this week to have a look.

School Announcements for the Week of February 27 - March 2

BOOGIE-A-THON - Happening this coming Wednesday - March 7th!  Don't forget to be bringing in the money from your pleges.  The last day to bring it in is on Wednesday, March 7th.  Great prizes to choose from!

PINK SHIRT DAY was a resounding success!  Let's keep the spirit alive and remember that Bullying STOPS with US!

Hockey:  played two games - Wednesday & Friday.
