Just a reminder everyone that the deadline for ordering yearbooks is tomorrow, Friday, June 2nd. If you do not have a School Cash Online account, it's not too late to create one, or alternatively, you can send in $13 cash in an envelope marked "Yearbook", your child's name and teacher and drop it off to the office. Don't miss this opportunity to have a copy of your child's school memories.

Bike "Roadeo" Permission Form &
Yearbook Order Deadline Reminder

Just a reminder that the CMES Bike "Roadeo" is tomorrow, Tuesday, May 30th from 8:45 to approx. 10:10 for grades 2 to 8. The permission form that was sent home today is needed for tomorrow, my apologies for not sending it home earlier. Be sure that your child has a helmet, bike lock and that their bike is in good working order. Taking part is optional, but highly recommended and a fun way to become a better bike rider.

If your child qualifies for the town wide Bike "Roadeo", a letter will be sent home. It is important to let us know if you are unable to make it to Saturday's event, as we would offer the spot to another student if you can't go.

As well, the deadline for ordering the CMES Yearbook is rapidly approaching! You have until this Friday, June 2nd to order through the School Cash Online. It's a great way to remember this year's school memories for only $13. The grade 8's will receive their yearbook as a grad gift from the School Council.

Good luck at tomorrow's Bike "Roadeo"!

Yearbooks & the Bike "Roadeo" - It must be getting close to June!

It's that time of year again - don't miss your opportunity to order your yearbooks by Friday June 2nd. It is a great memory for all, from the youngest Kindies to the those graduating grade 8, (who will receive their copy as a graduation gift from the School Council.) Yearbooks can be ordered through School Cash Online for $13, but only until JUNE 2nd.

If you have any candid group shots from any CMES sporting or special events that you think might be suitable for the yearbook, we would love to see them. Please email them to cmesyearbook@hotmail.com, or put them on a USB stick and drop it off at the office in an envelope with your name on it, no later than WEDNESDAY, MAY 31st.

Don't forget to tune up your bikes and double check your bell or horn for the Optimists Bike "Roadeo" that is coming to CMES on the morning of Tuesday, May 30th. It's a great opportunity for our kids in grade 2 to 8 to show their bike riding skills. Kinders and grade 1's often get to watch the big kids so that they know what to expect when they get to be old enough to participate. The top 3 boys and top 3 girls in each division will go on to the town wide competition on Saturday, June 3rd. Thank you to the Orangeville Optimists for making this happen.

The Dance A Thon was a huge success on Wednesday, March 8th and everyone had a great time. It was wonderful to see so many parents and grandparents come out and share in the fun. A huge thank you to our grade 8's who led the dance too. It is greatly appreciated.

The draw for the Dance A Thon prizes will take place on Friday, March 10th. Students have until 11:00, (just after the first recess,) to get any remaining tickets in for the draw and the winners will be announced at 2:00. Valentine's Day is around the corner; share the love by ordering your child a Valentine Candy Treat Bag available for $2 through School Cash Online until tonight, Sunday at midnight. You can order extras for your child to give to their Valentine friends too. The treats will be delivered to your child's classroom on Tuesday. This fundraiser is run by the grade 8's to help offset the cost of their upcoming Ottawa trip. Thank you for your support!

The Dance A Thon preparations are well underway, but we could still use your help. Donations of prizes can be dropped off at the office anytime up until this Friday the 17th. We are looking for new toys or gift cards suitable for kids age 4 to 14, especially technology based items. Holiday gifts that weren't a big hit at your house could be great for us and small items can be combined to make larger gift baskets. Please include a note saying that it is for the Dance A Thon and who it is from. Information about the launching of the Dance A Thon will be coming home soon. We're getting EXCITED!!

As well, we are always in need of extra parents or grandparents to help out with the food days on Thursdays. Please leave a comment or send a note in with your child's agenda and we'll get back to you. Thanks for helping to making it happen.

PLEASE READ FOR IMPORTANT FOOD DAY INFORMATION FOR 2016 / 2017:
Tuesday June 21, 2016
Dear Families,
Regrettably, I will not be returning as the Food Day Coordinator next Fall and food days will not happen unless someone steps up to take over. After volunteering for five years, and assisting for several years before that, it is time for me to move on to new challenges. If you, or a group of parents (round up some friends, it’s a great opportunity if you want to get involved in a positive way in your child’s school;) are interested in taking on a rewarding challenge, please let me know. I am more than willing to train, mentor and share what I have learned. It is rewarding in ways that you would never think.
The Food Days do not have to look anything like what we have now. Make the Food Days fit your schedule and life. Only free on Fridays? Move them to Friday set the schedule to what works for you. I can share the pros and cons of various options.
Our past lunch days have allowed us to raise almost $20,000 a year with the money going directly back to our children to cover the costs of such things as Scientist in the Schools, emergency bussing for walking field trips during inclement weather, field trip subsidies, anti bullying presentations, new technology, recess equipment, playgrounds, sports equipment, shade trees and many other initiatives. If no one steps up, we will have to cut back on the initiatives that we support, and, or rely on more traditional forms of fundraising, such as giftware, chocolate sales and magazine subscriptions.
Two quotes that have motivated me over the years are “ Be the change that you want to see in the world.” and “If it is to be, it is up to me.” Are you the change? It’s time to pass the baton on to the next group of parents. Please don’t hesitate to contact me, even if it is just to learn more about what is involved before making a commitment. Send me an email at nancyt.sc@gmail.com or leave a message at 5199417487 x 500. (It’s worth it.)
Regards,
Nancy Turner

Tomorrow, our final food day for the year is Hot Dog Day!!
